The Work-Study Program, which includes the Federal Work-Study Program, provides funding granted by the Federal Government  to aid individuals with financial need in achieving  a college education. Federal Work- Study assists employers by paying a portion of a qualified student's wages with the employer paying the remaining balance. 

The Work-Study Program is now offering the Learning Aligned Employment Program (LAEP), a state-funded, work-based learning program offered through the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) which provides eligible students, opportunities to gain education-aligned, career-related experience in their fields of study fully funded up to their allocation. On-campus research-based positions are currently available. Off-campus opportunities through Public Schools and Nonsectarian, nonpolitical organizations will be coming soon.

Student employment is beneficial for all students regardless of their work-study or LAEP eligibility. We encourage all campus departments to consider hiring students as student employees so that they may be able to gain valuable UC work experience while earning necessary income mitigating increased higher education costs. Departments will also have the opportunity to utilize the skills and abilities of UCR students, strengthen students’ employment potential upon graduation, and reduce temporary staffing costs.
